Here’s the PR for the exhibition:

Having worked mainly with digital media, this new series of work sees Christophe returning to traditional picture-making techniques, often using lo-fi cameras and outdated film. The inherent frailty of this equipment is transferred to the photographs, which are often blurred, scratched and saturated. It is the mood, rather than the immediate representation of the subject that forms this body of work. These photographs include experimental works involving multiple exposure and film techniques.

I came across Photojojo some time about a year ago. The first thing that struck me, after the gorgeous design, was just how cool the site was. It is full of great little crafty hints and tricks to make the most of your images.

Admittedly, most of the site’s articles are geared towards digital camera users, there is still enough there to keep film photographers busy. For example, there are instructions for making photo blocks, CD jewel case photo frames, DIY wide angle lens, etc..

I strongly suggest you take a look through the archive, and work your way through. If you like what you see, subscribe! I did, and I don’t regret it!

I first discovered the ‘Toycam Handbook’ shortly after buying my first Holga. I’d just been introduced to a world of plastic toy cameras and I was so intrigued I had to learn more. The book starts off by introducing the reader to over 20 different toy cameras - including the Diana, the Fujipet, and the Holga 120FN. Each camera has its own page featuring a glorious colour photo, example images and specifications for the geeky folk amongst us (I proudly include myself in that category).

“This is my studio in Nantucket, Massachusetts. Five minute exposure on bulb setting, F8 cloudy setting (Holgamods); used a blue LED flashlight on the music stand, the lamp, and under the keyboards. A shot of flash at myself sitting at the keyboard at the end and then I fired the flash again off camera by mistake. You can see a ghost image of me in sitting at the keyboard. You can also see my hand holding the flashlight in the lamp. I shot this to finish off a roll I wanted to develop and didn’t think anything of it. Those pictures always seem to come out the best for me.”
